For as long as I can remember, I have LOVED Jennifer Aniston. I think she's a great comedian and great actress.

Also, she has proven to many many young women, and older as well, that you can still look AMAZING, and have a GREAT life without a significant other, even in your 40'es.
I love her SMARTwater ads, and when I came across the new one - there were so many hateful comments, such as 'well, the reason she has that body is because she doesn't have 4 kids and a husband she needs to feed" - and such comments really made the hair on my back stand up. How fucked up is that? I don't think there's ever an excuse not to do whats best for your body, and treat it with respect, because, at the end of the day, it's 'who you 'sleep' with.

So seriously, to all you mamas out there, from a young woman (me) to all you ladies, shut up, work out, enjoy life, and keep on keeping on!

I've danced all sorts of dance throughout me teenage-years, but stopped because.... So wierd, because, when I tell my dancing-story to people, I can NEVER end that sentence, as to why I quit.
I tried getting back on the floor in october, with my friend, but for some reason, we could not return. We never really talked about it, basically we just made excuses like 'oh well, I don't really have time, university-stuff' etc. etc.
And then 1 week ago, I saw the greatest dance-show, well, in truth, they / Gaardbo Dans, always always makes great shows (plus it's my old school) - and I could not stop moving my feet as I sat in my chair, listened to the drums, the beats, the rhythm, and the happy faces.

So what will it take, when you've quit something in your life, that genuinely made you so extremely happy, right down to your toes, to start again?
Is it pride thats keeping me from my ballet-tights and my electric boogie t-shirt? Or is it the scary feeling of 'sometimes you have to close one book, and start reading another?'

Sometimes getting away is the best that can happen in your life, sometimes it just reminds you of a past you no longer wish to associate yourself with.
I went to London over the weekend, and had a great meeting with someone who I so admire, and basically had a good start, to what I thought would be a great weekend.
Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.

For a period of time I've had someone in my life whose company I've really enjoyed, and I've had a great deal of respect for. Also, this person has taught me some valuable lessons in life, I thought were very useful to me - it turned out it was all bullshit!
I hate, and I cannot stress the word HATE more than I already do, being played for a fool. I hate when my love for people, or admiration, or respect, or what other positive feelings I can put on people, will turn around, and instead of feeling the above feelings, make me question lack of the same.
Besides being really hurt, pissed off and sad, I sat at a dinner table friday night, with some very prominent guests, and thought to myself, this is not me anymore. I hate being a phoney, and coming across as slightly fake, and that's how I felt friday night, and whilst feeling how I did, I thought to myself - this was me 4 years ago, and I have no intention, whatsoever, to ever be that person again. I simply refuse to live up to that illusion some people might have of me.
I guess, when you're young, stupid and confused, you lean against what might feel most comfortable in life, and don't confuse comfortable with what feels right, because those two feelings are quite similar, yet so different. And for a period of time, I've done what seemed comfortable, instead of doing what's right. And finally I'm in a place I hope to stay for the rest of my life, when it comes to what and with whom I surround myself with.

So on top of having an extremely wierd weekend, only saved by, let me call him "the-dude-who'll-always-grab-bambi", I've been reminded of someone I used to be, and someone I hope never again to see. Which is why, I hope I will not ever experience what I've experienced these last couple of days, and always, ALWAYS be true to my own self. Because, as Diane von Furstenberg has said "the most important relationship you have in life, is the relationship you have with yourself"

So, you live and you learn, right?

Numerous of STUPID realityshows take up my preciuos time now and then, one of them is MTV's "Jersey Shore".
Basically it's about these italianos who move to Jersey Shore, from Jersey (you know, that 'city' that basically every single american make fun of - it's the scum of the U.S) - and it documents what italianos do with their time --> tan, eat pizza's, have sexual intercourse with each other, tan some more, party like theres no tomorrow, tan even more, and finish it off with a spaghetti feast.

However, when you make a spread in INTERVIEW magazine, get your photoes taken by Terry Richardson, and have Bar Rafaeli on top of you - I guess you can call yourself a star!

So here's to you, the cast of Jersey Shore - an applause all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark!

Where's EASY?

4 years ago, I was involved with something and someone, who was really really religious.
And I admired that faith, but I hated what my admiration did to who I was. The reason why I'm writing this/opening up, is that everything I had to do with this admiration crashed and burned during easter 4 years ago.

So looking back - I must admit that I'm so happy to be where I am, and content with my admiration for religion.
Because Easter DOES MAKE YOU THINK. It's about self-sacrifice, and believing your actions will benefit other people. It's all about that person standing next to you.
So I thought to myself - fuck that, what can I do, for myself? I do believe that in order to be the best person standing next to other people in life, one have to understand one self, one's actions, intentions - and most importantly how far out one's love can, will and must reach.
I took friday off, and went wandering with Dúné (danish band) on my Ipod, my Moleskine notebook and my camera. Sat on a cafe, and looked at life: parents with their kids, lovers, admirers and enjoyers.
And I truly felt compatible with all of them - and smiled while I thought to myself - being just me is perfectly and fantastically okay.

A dull sunday night, after a family-birthday, and 15 cups of coffee in the sunday sun, I wandered home and wondered, what to do with myself. As usual, I ended up in front of my computer, and wasted time on facebook, and edited photo'es from the events of the weekend, and ate crackers and chocolate.
At 12.25 pm, I decided to change into my great ugly pyjamas, hop in bed, and watch "the Hurtlocker". Usually I put the timer on, so that I can just go to sleep, but after 5 minutes of watching the movie, I decided, fuck it, I'll stay up all night, because I HAVE to watch this movie!
And man, am I glad I did that! I really don't want to say anything about the movie, cause I think you have to watch and judge for yourself -- but my title of this little story, will hopefully awaken your senses, and start a fire in you!
So as patriotic as I'm NOT, I do send out my thoughts and weel-wishes to those wearing combat-boots!

An ugly picture, yeez, yikes, yeez!
I opened up one of my favorite danish magazines today, and it had a teeny, tiny picture of me and a friend of mine in it, and I looked like CRAP! So after quickly putting it in my huge pile of other magazines, I jumped in my shower, where I stood and got more and more frustrated - because that picture, is really not me.
The whole essense of being in magazines, having your name printed there, and not having a single clue of what you'll look like, and most importantly, what other people will say or think, is absolutely horrifying, and it creeps me out.
So, it got me thinking about other things in my life as well. And how much I admire people who just put it out there - you know, the 'real' people: designers who delivers excellent interviews, and put out their collections/their lifework/baby for people to criticize, singers who do the same - and who constantly have to be in the front-row, in order for them not to be forgotten, and, last, politicians. Because, they, of all people, clearly stand out, with their hearts, minds and logic, and in many cases, they put everything at risk.
So this is what I like about my life, and what I'm shaping it to be, that I'm not somebody you know the face of, or have an opinion of, but you have an opinion of what I write - and that's awesome, because that is my passion - writing! And you may judge, criticize, or give me an applause, because what you got here, is 75% of who I am - it's NOT a picture in a magazine, I'm not that person, nope, I am my pen, my macbook, my daily journal, my many moleskine notebooks, my friends, my stories, my family, magazines, my sneakers and my high heels, my tattoes and my music.

So, I've been sick for almost all of february, and I had to move in between my penicilin hell - but now I'm on the other side of the bridge, and am EXTREMELY impatient when it comes to waiting for Spring! I want it now - bare feet, beer outside, streetparties and hourlong cafe-visits! Is that too much to ask for?
So while I'm waiting, I'm keeping myself occupied with my new favorite pair of sneaks - as I call them, gummibears, and Tina Dickow singing the ultrafamous "ensom" from Zulu Awards 2010 - and my goodness, does she rock that song! I know that Medina is kind of well-respected, but as a true fan of ms. Dickow since 2007, I simply have to say it's a shame "ensom" isn't her song!
And by the way, think of this - "is just that nobody talks about it - but everybody does it..."

My first encounter with Alexander McQueen was back in 2005, when I uprooted my roots and moved to the big California. I had plenty of guilty pleasures; In n' Out Burger, Taco-Bell, huge burito'es and Oreoes (mostly food) - but whenever I enjoyed my guilty pleasure(s) - I sat with a bunch of tabloid magazines - US magazine, Star, People, OK! etc. etc. - and looked at the overly exposed celebs, and found out how NOT interesting it was to see them pumping gas. What did come across to me, and the reason why I continued buying these weekly magazines, was the fashion. At this time Lindsay Lohan was getting it on with everyone in LA, and was skinny as a skinny bitch, but she did seem to have one thing together - her sense of style/fashion. Along with Nicole Richie they strutted along Robertson Boulevard with their Balenciaga city bags, and their SKULL-scarfs. I loved both items, mostly the scarf! So when I came back to Copenhagen for a short little visit, I hunted down the only shop in Denmark who had the scarfs - and since then, I've been a true fan!!
Thursday - last week, I was running around like a maniac, hating to play important and be important, during Copenhagen Fashion Week, and in the middle of running around and playing S*p*i*e -goodshoes, I had a moment where I drank my coffee and checked out the daily gossip on people.com. And I was stunned, out of breath and completely in chock when I read that the great Lee McQueen was found dead in his London home.
He was one of the few designers who truly pushed boundaries, who was completely in his own universe, and followed no rules. He was a great inspiration, and will become a true legend.
Most artists - the great ones, whether them being in the artistic world or the fashion world, have had a tendency to be a bit neurotic, depressive, manic or just plain wierd - but I do believe that some of these character-traits is what makes their work so incredibly great. Mr. Lee, I hope you'll rest in peace, that you're satisfied and proud; proud of what you did and contributed with!

Penicilin, Moving-trucks, Chamomile-tea and a swollen sore Throat!

So, I've been sick for 4 days now, and have been laying in bed, sweating like a dog, and feeling extremely sorry for myself, so sorry I actually cried in front of a doctor. And in the middle of being very very sick (I don't remember feeling like this since I returned home from Uganda in 2004), I have to move, I guess the term "have" is me exagerrating, cause I'm not getting kicked out, actually I'm moving to, what I predict will be my little piece of heaven. In less than 24 hours I'll be sitting in my new apartment, looking at my city, and yay for that!!
However, watching my parents pack down my stuff, it made me think about how much my apartment has witnessed, and the memories it beholds, and the memories I know have to memorize, because I will not be reminded of them, every day.
Whenever my mood was up, way up, or down, way down, the apartment 'listened' so faithfully. The little place, my little hide-away as I used to call it has seen me transform, and I so wish walls could speak some times. It really does make me realize that it will be kinda hard closing the door tomorrow for the last time.
But fuck it, its a new era, and I'm excited!

Falling Away From The Past / Slow Dancing In A Burning Room

It's saturday evening, and I'm faced with facts that reminds of the past. Facts about how people have the best intentions in their heart, but somehow, their actions overrule and symbolize pain for someone else.
I started out 2010 with my best intentions, and had a clear plan of how I wanted to make a clean cut, cut out all the things that I knew would hurt someone else, and now I realize, I should have made a clean cut in 2009. Because at the end of the day, when I close my eyes, I know, that I've been 50% of an action that will ultimately hurt an innocent person. And I need to stop! Show my face, come clean, and be honest, not to anyone I know, but most importantly, towards myself.
In less than a week, I'll uproot my roots, and move from my old apartment, to my new one. And I can't help but wonder, and stumble upon the fact that I will say goodbye to an era.
And may I finish of with one of my favorite lyrics from John Mayers newest album "Battle Studies" / Edge of Desire - Young, and full of running, tell me, where has that taken me, just a great figure 8 or a tiny infinity, Love is really nothing, but a dream that keeps waking me, for all of my trying, we still end up dying, how can it be?

A couple of days ago, I was on my way home from work, and I didn't feel like going straight home, which is why I stopped at Kgs. Nytorv - (center of Copenhagen) - and watched a free exhibition, in the middle of the square. The portraits below, are from the exhibition, and centers around homeless people, who've been given up, by their loved ones, their extended families and the the system.
The pictures touched something in myself, and reminded me, once again that materialism is just so extremely superficial, and it is what is underneath that will shake you to your very core.

To Do or Not To Do

So, my first post in January, my first post in 2010. And though a new year is here, right here in the present, I find myself with even more questions and even less answers. I so long for a sense of stability, but as my great dear mum said yesterday, "Darling, it's your age, and the many choices that come with your age, that makes you confused" - and again, as so many times before, dear mummy is right on.
So what do I do when great oppertunities are right in front of me, but I don't know whether to take the right or left turn? Because no matter which turn I take/choose, it will for a while change a path of mine.
I think I can only compare the situation I find myself in, right now, to the many situations pilots finds themselves in, sometimes; let's imagine a pilot going to Rio De Janeiro, with 300 passengers, but changing his well-structured route, and taking a leap of faith, and instead go to Tokyo. The passengers might be pissed, excited, irritated or happy, and the pilots boss may be scared, fear anxiety and most likely be shit-faced, what is the worst that can happen??! Yes, people depend on the pilot to make the right choice, but what if the right choice is to go to Tokyo?

So 2009 is lacking towards its end. A year that I could not have predicted the result and meaning of. I feel in many ways as if Karma came around, once again, and it taught me valuable lessons in the great war, called life. The reason I'm choosing to call it a war, is that there's a constant reminder of what's good and bad, what's right and wrong and what makes you laugh or cry. It's a balance, thats so hard to find, and I do not believe I'll find it in 2010, but I do believe that I'll come closer. 3 years ago I thought I was oh so wise, and I knew it all, but circumstances has shown me, that I know so little, and that no matter how hard I try, I cannot predict what the next day, the next hour, the next week or the next year will bring. What I can do, is enjoy myself, my great surroundings, and make sure they know I enjoy them. I said goodbye to someone this year, and it was much needed for myself, but it turned out that that person means more than me, than I could chose to ignore, and I'm so happy that that person is now a part of my life again. I know who I want to surround myself with, and how.
So here's a thank you; to the 3 girls/'skrævs' in my life who've been ready to grab me, thank you to the monday-dinner team for great dinners, great conversations and a great bond, thank you to my oldest friend 'mims' for never being on time, but always being there, thank you to my PG for reminding me to laugh when it seemed so easy to cry, thank you to the "wife "in my life, you're the closets I'll ever come to having a soul-mate in my life, thank you for rushing when times where tough, thank you for understanding who I am, thank you to my great 'babs' for making me understand the relationship between you and I and what that entitles, and last, thank you to my two assholes, for giving me two very special and dear smiles that reminds me of the times that I thought were lost!
So at last, I hope for a great 2010 with more laughter (if possible), more outdoor-Copehagen-activities, more love and more hugs!

As a true celevrity-nerd, and yes, I am proud to say that I read all the gossip every day, it saddens me that yet another celeb has gone to cupcake-heaven (my idea of heaven is a big cupcake). Clueless was one of the all-time greatest girlie-girl movies, and I was in chock when I checked out www.perezhilton.com, to find out that the fab Brittany Murphy is now dead.
So here's a little 'ode' to the some of the FANTASTIC celebs we all lost in 2009:

Patrick Swayze: Thank you for making me dance every time I watch Dirty Dancing, thank you for making me realize that only you know how to make "hungry Eyes"
DJ AM: A true DJ at heart, a dude that lived for the beats, the rhythm and the lyrics - the music, you took to a new level
Michael Jackson: When I was 16, a had a huge discussion whether you or Stevie Wonder defined POP music, and there's no doubt in my mind, that you will always be the King, you brought me so many great memories, and I will continue beating it on the dancefloor every time I listen to "Rock With You"
Brittany Murphy: "I will never te-eel" - wauw, that sentence is stuck in my mind!

COP15 has truly shown us, that no matter how powerful, stubborn, or how willing one is to negotiate, intercultural differences, or perceptions, and the lack of understanding to different human beings, made an impact on the goal that was reached. Which was, exactly?
I believe every single person came here, to Brokenhagen, as FOX News now refers Copenhagen as, with the best intentions at heart.
And it kills me to acknowledge, that nothing came out of it, all the good intentions are now in the dumpster.

A couple of days aago, I saw the movie about legendary Coco (Gabrielle) Chanel. And embarrasing as it may sound, I truly realized the revolution she started; a new state of mind where women all over the world were no longer bound to the concepts or perceptions of what a true lady was supposed to look like, act like or dress.
And it made me stumble across some of the true ladies in my little countries, they're not the fashioneditors or hip bloggers who circulate in the danish fashionsociety, no, it's the ladies who have truly worked, and worked hard to get to the well respected number they represent in such a small society as the danish fashion-society. I do with all my haert, respect them!!

First loves... They distract you, they never go away, and they keep reappearing. Wether it's a memory, a street, a name, a piece of gum, a sock or a phrase in a piece of music, you'll find yourself related to that first love, even though you try so hard to just let it slip. You can fight it all you want, and keep telling yourself little lies, but lies never work, they get discovered, and all of a sudden you're faced with facts you cannot control, deny or escape from. It's like the darkness, you're not afraid when you're out, but when inside, all alone in the dark, it freaks you out.
Mark Twain once said: "In love, you pay, when you leave" --> cause either you regret you left, or you're so hurt by the other person, and then the hurt turns into hatred, and hatred never leaves.
What is it with first loves, wether it's a car, a man/woman, a pen, some food or artwork - why are they stuck? Why can't they just get the fuck out, so that, when the opportunity for a second, third or fourth or 25'th love can look you in the eyes, and you can return the look?
It seems that most human-beings only love what they do not have.... I might be one of them?!

And the magazines that seems to draw most of my attention are not the fashion-ones neither the ones for fashionable women, they're the ones for men. In my long journey looking for interesting reading material, I find that magazines for women are so humiliating for women, it's either, "how to drop ten pounds in one week", "do this, and he'll like you" or "look, the biker-chick look is back." Also, they only have female models on their front-page, whereas most magazines for men, have a personality, someone you know thru the media, or someone you can relate to in one way or the other, on the front-page. The journalism in these women-magazines is boring, there are never any interesting stories about how 'dangerous' a certain lifestyle can be, it feels as if the people behind these magazines are creating a cinderella-story behind their readers' eyes, instead of mixing reality with dreams. Maybe I'm completely wrong, maybe most women urge for an hour on the couch, dreaming about a pair of Choos that costs 10.000 DKR? I don't know... However, what I do know is that I was so extremely inspired about the article in newest version of EUROMAN (december 2009 issue), about a young man named Rasmus Krath, who has devoted his life to travelling. Not to bounty-islands, but to the places in the world that are so broken by actions made by human-beings.
I find myself sitting in front of my computer, wondering why I wonder about what pair of new boots I want, instead of saying FUCK that, that is most certainly NOT what life is about..! Rasmus Krath, I am a fan!!

A painting that has so ultimately gone down in history, although, I'm still wondering why? Is it because this woman, is a symbol on women-nature from past to present? You can't figure 'her' out, is 'she' smiling, who is 'she' looking at, what is 'she' thinking, why so blue, why not so blue, why the melancholy that so clearly stands out in the colors used? Lately, I've found myself in a state of mind, where I'm trying to find out how deep a meaning materialistic possessions have for me. All provoked from previous events, and because of two movies - BABEL and THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE. Movies where the result of human interaction is a constant presence, and what it means, when communication can go wrong. They are both movies, in my opinion, where the director tries to show the audience, what is key in life, in his opinion.
So what is key in a long- or short-lived life? Is it if I have pink or short hair, is it the new expensive boots I'm eyeing? Is it the daily trips thru copenhagen on my bike watching life go by? Is it the relations I so hardly try to sustain, because without them, I don't know how to define who I really am? How can a human-being make the distinction between what is really materialistic, and what is not? Who do we look for, for help? Is it the September issue of Vogue, or the forest, that so truly follows the laws of nature? How would people react if they lost things in the fire?

So, after a while, with bloggers from all over the country / world, I've realized that what most fashion bloggers blog about, is themselves. Which is, fine, I guess.

After reading the newest issue of COVER (danish magazine), and reading a very interesting article, with one of my favorite fashionjournalists, I finally came to the conclusion, in which I've searched for, in my search for 'true fashion' - and the meaning that word holds. Fashion is not about, in my mind, showing your face, or how fantastic you are, it is not about getting famous, or getting invited to all the great parties or launches, fashion, in my mind, is the pure art - the clothes. When really thinking about it, fashion is an expression, clothing is a subliminal language that communicates how you want to be perceived. So FUCK what your face looks like, when thinking about a model that 'struts' down the catwalk, do you really look at her/his face? Is that where your criticsm goes?

Jean Paul Gaultier once did a catwalk where a stick-thin anorectic model walked, and the critics were outrageous, however, his response was, it's an art, and that is how I wanted 'my picture' to be seen.

Yes I understand, that this picture gives girls the idea that they have to be freaking stick-thin in order to look like what JPG wanted them to look like, but that wasn't the reason behind, it was a piece of art, where bottom-line was, the haute-couture clothes, NOT the face!

Lotte Freddie (one of the oldest fashionjournalists from Denmark) said that blogging these days is more about getting famous, or getting recognized, and she finds this disgusting. I agree!

So here's my contribution. Fashion in all its senses, from the little ones who so clearly stands out, who are not afraid to stand out, despite their surroundings opinions - fashion that does not have a face, but fashion that is dedicated to what it really is, the art of clothing!
